Strengthening our community by good deeds

Community Engagement

We’re proud to be a boater-led charity with boaters and their mooring fees contributing to the core costs of our work. By having live-in guardians on the river we’re able to improve safety, volunteer our time to manage the day-to-day upkeep of the river and arrange events that bring the wider community together. In the last year, we’ve grown beyond our boater core and count many local residents as friends and active participants. Whether that be board members Alison Cormack and Louis Rutherford and their respective links to community organisations BD Collective and Participatory City or members of the neighbouring Hart’s Lane estate working to reduce litter and plant trees on the their riverside banks. Our Facebook group Friends of the River Roding also counts nearly 1,000 members sharing information and friendly insights to encourage more local enjoyment of this beautiful but oft forgotten river. If you’d like to get involved please drop us an email, join our Facebook group or come on down and say hello!
